Creating YOU CAN: Sheila Gilroy-Collins speaks about how she created the symbolic story piece capturing Aisling Centre

Aisling Centre

Established in 1990 Aisling Centre is dedicated to the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing. Aisling is an Irish word meaning ‘dream’ or ‘vision’ and the dream is realised through the provision of a safe space where people can find hope and healing at difficult times in their lives.

The Centre is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.  It is managed by a voluntary Board of Directors drawn from across the community who are supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

The Aisling Centre adheres to the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Beyond my wildest imaginings: Sr Edel Bannon reflects on 30 Years of Aisling Centre.

Our Patron Adrian Dunbar

As patron of Aisling Centre, Enniskillen actor Adrian Dunbar has been a proud proponent of our work, particularly the Centre’s annual Hope Healing Growth event.

“It is a great honour for me to find myself as patron of Aisling Centre.  It has long been a matter of pride to me that the people of Enniskillen and Fermanagh have never allowed the strictures of local politics to stop them opening their hearts to those in need.  Our Society is enriched and empowered by those brave people who notice a need to somehow fill the vacuum where others might think hope is gone.  The practical work they do underpins the dream of new beginning for those who cross the door.”

Lifetime Honorary Member Sr Edel Bannon

As a founding member of Aisling Centre, Sr Edel Bannon was instrumental in shaping its mission and ethos.  She has continued to play an important role in life of Aisling Centre for over thirty years.

“It is a rare honour to become a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Aisling Centre. On a personal level, I feel unworthy, but I am very happy to receive it on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy who initially supported the project with both personnel and finance.  I am also delighted to receive it on behalf of my fellow founding members Sr Mary Daly and the late Sr Helena Hunt.

It has been a great privilege to serve with Board colleagues of the greatest integrity and commitment to Aisling Centre.  Also, a staff and sessional team who continue to be an inspiration to us all with their faithfulness to the ethos and mission of the Centre. “
